BOARD MEMBERS

AIMEE BARTELT

Is a resident of Clifton Springs, but began life in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Aimee’s parents were killed in that conflict, but she and her sister were adopted by an American soldier and were raised in North Carolina. She shares a kinship with the white deer of the depot as expressed below:

“If it were not for the militaristic need for the Depot to exist, the white deer would almost certainly not exist in the numbers that they do. And, if war did not exist as it did in Vietnam, my parents would not have been brought together, and I certainly would not be here today. I am amazed at how the reminder of something as hideous as war and the reality of something as beautiful as nature can coexist as they do at the Depot. The white deer will always hold a special place in my heart.”

She began working with Seneca White Deer as an intern and earned a seat on the Board of Directors through her dedicated efforts. Aimee has a wide-ranging background in conservation activities and volunteer work and is dedicated to protecting the wildlife of the former depot.
